Mr Deutrom is a highly skilled development worker with more than thirty five years of development experience in the Pacific, Asia and Europe. He has undertaken projects for World Bank, ADB, EU, AusAID and NZAID and has practical knowledge of the requirements of cross-cutting safeguards and policies of these agencies.

Mr Deutrom commenced his working life as a science educator at the secondary and tertiary levels followed by several years in curriculum and IEA materials development. In 1992 he was appointed Director of Village Development in Papua New Guinea and has for the last 20 years been involved in community development at all levels. He has had wide and successful experience in, community development, stakeholder empowerment, rural private sector development, monitoring and evaluation and the development of curricula and IEA materials for projects in Papua New Guinea, the Cook Islands, Tuvalu, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Pakistan and Croatia.

Mr Deutrom’s communication skills are exceptional. He is able to quickly establish a rapport with just about anyone - villagers, project beneficiaries, staff, counterparts, local government, clients.He is a most effective facilitator of meetings and workshops, has a fundamental has a fundamental understanding of how decision-making operates (both formally and informally) in developing societies.

He is an excellent builder of stakeholder relationships.An important additional factor is his ability to motivate and enthuse people.This, together with his leadership, means he can generate a high level of stakeholder participation in project activities and provide quality mentorship at all levels.
