Jean.jpgJean Williams is an experienced social development and environmental consultant and has worked for major development agencies in developing countries throughout Asia, Pacific and Central America and has complemented this experience with private sector work in New Zealand and Malaysia.She has undertaken projects for World Bank, DfID, ADB, JICA, UNOPS, AusAID and NZAID, and has practical knowledge of the requirements of safeguard policies of bilateral agencies such as World Bank and ADB and how their requirements are triggered by infrastructure projects.

 

Ms Williams has twenty years experience in social and environmental assessment and monitoring, including poverty assessment, and has worked on many large infrastructure projects (water supply and sanitation, electrification, and transportation) which have required preparation of social and environmental impact assessments, gender and development assessment, resettlement plans, development of strategies to maximise benefits to users, especially the poor, as well as reduce adverse social, cultural or environmental impacts. Jean has also prepared and delivered training on implementation of World Bank’s social safeguards, including resettlement, as well as many other aspects of social impact assessment to government agencies and other stakeholders.

Jean has worked in a total of 25 countries on both short and medium term assignments providing impact assessment and community consultation and stakeholder participation inputs to various development projects.
