Jim Clarke (MSc)

Jim Clarke is a multi disciplinary civil engineer with 30 years experience in the provision of physical infrastructure. The last 10 years he has devoted to sustainable and replicable improvements in rural and urban livelihoods through organisational and capacity development of public and private sectors. He has a passion for the development of innovative and unique solutions to improve ‘access’ using a combination of engineered solutions and community driven initiatives.
PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT: Excellent and well balanced inter personal/cross cultural communication/people skills. Appropriate leadership and management capacity for multi-sectoral/cultural emergency relief and development programmes.
PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE: Experience in design, procurement, construction, contract management and maintenance of urban and rural infrastructure including roads (flexible, rigid and gravel) , bridges( RC .and panel type), water supply, solid waste management and domestic, commercial and institutional buildings (with particular interest in employment intensive techniques and community driven projects).
DEVELOPMENT: Experience in organizational development at institutional, social and private sector level. Competent understanding of demand driven programmes, participatory assessment, planning, action and community management of rural and urban infrastructure projects in disaster (natural and complex emergencies), recovery and development settings.
TRAINING: Experience in assessment, design, delivery and evaluation of training programmes in both relief and development settings for public and private sector participants.
